During the conversation, Atasoy commended the Iyaloja General for her advocacy and concrete initiatives to improve the welfare and economic standing of Nigerian market women and traders.

Strengthening Nigeria–Türkiye Market Links

The discussion focused on opening new trade doors for traders in both countries. The two principals agreed that structured cooperation between Nigerian and Turkish market women could unlock significant economic potential.
“This call is the beginning of an important cooperation,” said Atasoy. “By opening doors for traders, we are not just expanding markets — we are building resilience, creating jobs, and strengthening communities.”

Iyaloja General: “Our Traders Are Ready for International Markets”

Chief (Mrs) Dr. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo welcomed the initiative, noting that Nigeria’s traders stand ready to engage internationally. “Our traders are hardworking and enterprising, but they need trusted pathways beyond our borders,” she said.

From Dialogue to Action

Both leaders agreed to move forward and instructed their teams to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding that will establish areas of collaboration, facilitate knowledge-exchange visits, and organize events connecting Nigerian and Turkish traders.
