TWO THOUSAND MODULAR HOUSES, FROM ULUSKON TO THE EARTHQUAKE VICTIM

The INTERNATIONAL Investment and Business Confederation (ULUSKON) has decided to supply modular residences from abroad, each of which will have the comfort of a normal home, in order to provide immediate protection and security to earthquake-affected families who are currently experiencing housing problems and do not have a home. In this direction, a total of 2,000 modular residences will consist of 200 houses each, in 10 points to be determined in coordination with AFAD. It is aimed to provide shelter for 10 thousand people with 2 thousand modular houses to be built in the format of 'ULUSKON earthquake survivor quarter'.

ULUSKON Chairman and International Human Rights Defense Committee (IHRDC) Goodwill Ambassador Nezaket Emine Atasoy continues to provide in-kind and cash aid to the region, together with many companies within the body of ULUSKON, after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. Acting in cooperation with the relevant institutions and organizations in the provinces in the earthquake region, ULUSKON continues to deliver basic needs such as food materials, winter clothes and hygiene products to the earthquake victims under the leadership of the regional companies it’s affiliated with. It was stated that the winter clothes and necessities supplied from Europe will be set out with trucks within the next week. After the trucks arrive in Turkey, these materials will be hand-delivered by ULUSKON staff to our citizens in need in the earthquake zone, in line with the guidance of AFAD

ULUSKON also started a temporary housing support movement for earthquake victims. ULUSKON management has decided to supply modular residences from abroad, each of which will have the comfort of a normal home, in order to provide immediate protection and security to our earthquake survivor families, who currently have housing problems and do not have a home. In this direction, the procurement process of a total of 2,000 modular houses from the USA and Sweden is underway. Following the procurement, it is planned to proceed to the installation phase in the earthquake zone.

‘MODULAR HOUSINGS WILL BE RESISTANT TO ALL CLIMATE CONDITIONS’

After the modular residences arrive in Turkey, modular neighborhoods in the format of 'ULUSKON earthquake-affected neighborhood' will be established, each of which will consist of 200 houses, at 10 points to be determined in coordination with AFAD, in the needed areas. It is aimed that each modular residence will be finalized by ULUSKON volunteers, and will be installed on site and hand-delivered to our earthquake victims in need. It is seen as an obligation by ULUSKON that these temporary residences are in the comfort of permanent residences in all aspects, and that the citizens who will use these residences until permanent residences are built, continue their lives in safety, without being affected by heat and cold, humidity, wind and rain. In this context, it was requested that the modular houses should be resistant to all kinds of climatic conditions, as well as meeting basic needs such as fire detectors, sanitary installations, basic electrical equipment, heating and ventilation systems.

‘IT AIMS TO PROVIDE ACCOMMODATION TO 10 THOUSAND PEOPLE’

ULUSKON aimed for modular residences to have standard equipment that will satisfy our earthquake-affected guests for as many years as possible. The modular houses, which will be supplied in ready-made packages, will be built by professional teams and delivered to the earthquake victims. In addition, 1 temporary clinic and 1 management office will be established in a modular structure by ULUSKON in every 200 residential area. The modular residences will also have kitchen appliances as standard equipment. In each residential kitchen, fixtures such as dishwasher, refrigerator and oven will be provided. ULUSKON aims to provide accommodation for 10 thousand people with 2 thousand modular houses. The modular houses built with fabricated products that come in the form of laminated wood building blocks/layers will last for a minimum of 50 years. These modular houses, which can be assembled or disassembled, will be dismantled on-site by ULUSKON teams and stored in suitable environments to be used during another natural disaster, following the earthquake victims' attainment of their permanent residences.

EARTHQUAKE FUND CREATED

ULUSKON also established an earthquake survivor aid fund, which grew with the donations of its stakeholders in the country and abroad, in order to ensure the continuity of aid to earthquake victims. This campaign is still ongoing and invites those who want to support this aid fund with their financial contributions to contact ULUSKON contact points.
